$400 Prize at Upcoming Derby

The Ligonier Camp and Conference Center along with Ligonier’s Boy Scout Troop 375 are hosting a Catch and Release Fishing Derby at the Ligonier Camp Lake, 118 Dugan Lane, Saturday, September 24, from 8:30 to noon.

The person catching the longest fish will be awarded $400.00.

Following the end of the tournament, lunch will be served with a short program to follow.

The Derby is open to everyone including the young, or old, boys and girls. A fishing license is required for all participants 16 years of age and older.

Registration will be from 8 to 9 a.m. The event is $20 for adults and $10 for children (12 and under). Day of registrations will be $30. The registration fee includes lunch; parking is in the lot off of Two Mile Run Road.

The Ligonier Camp and Conference Center was formerly known as The Ice Pond and the Lady of the Lake Bread and Breakfast.

Last year, eight-year old Adam Moreland of Ligonier, together with his cousin George Golden, won the competition. Their catch was a 20 and one quarter-inch Largemouth Bass, beating out second place finisher, Latrobe resident, Greg Fenton, by one-quarter of an inch!
