Gotcha

Back in December, I was conversing with a young man about his Christian beliefs and church attendance. He brought to the table an expression that seems to have gained popularity over the last several years. “You have to change according to the ways society teaches. What the Bible teaches happened a long time ago.”

Does that ring a bell in anyone’s’ minds? Surely, I am not the only one who has heard this all too familiar phrase. There is so much of this way of thinking; no wonder things are the way they are today.

When we look at the whole picture, it really isn’t hard as to backsliding and being consumed by worldly thoughts especially when peer pressure is involved.

One may recall an incident I had with a group of teenagers in Legion Keener Park in Latrobe. When I posed the question to one 13 year-old youth concerning the subject at hand, he stated, “Pee Vee, you just have no idea…” In my opinion, I think this is one of Satan’s ploys to pushing Christ out of the picture and making him the ‘leader of the pack,’ as the saying goes.

Everything that draws us away from biblical teachings and numbs our minds into believing anything goes is definitely Satanic in nature.

There are people amongst us who we all have heard state one time or another, “There’s no such thing as the devil, Satan, or the evil one.” If anyone who has given his life to Jesus Christ and is walking a committed life does not adhere to this previous statement. May this be an eye opener to anyone and everyone. This negative force and his angels are working against us to draw us away from godly lives whereby he wants to sway us in the opposite direction.

I hate to say this, but this young man to whom I spoke is in the clutches of the devil. But, he is surely not the only one. Anyone who has allowed degradation to fester within our community, state and country government is being controlled by Satan.

One thing has to be made clear. People who know nothing about kingdom living comprehend not the ways of our Lord nor do they understand that they are digging themselves into an abyss of no return.

We who call ourselves Christians, on the other hand, have our doctrine laid out for us in black or red type against a white background. If we let ourselves go the least little bit, it isn’t hard to grow callus to the principles of which we were taught.

Time and time again, we are reminded to follow the Ten Commandments, it’s put that way because of the small number, yet some think it’s OK that two or three are followed. “The Church keeps changing its rules, so I, too, have the right to change my thinking,” stated one middle-aged man.

Here again, in my opinion, I don’t think parents understand one iota what they are doing when they go out and buy these big televisions and bring such garbage via cyber space into the homes for youth to view. I applaud anyone who refuses to buy these units for entertainment when they have growing children in the household. What they view on these enormous screens has to leave an impression on them if at no other reason other than baby steps at a time.

I’ll be the first to admit that I know little to nothing about physics. But I will tell you this. Magnetic pull and societal degradation go hand in hand. Once Satan has one in his clutches, whereby a victim is eased into demoralization, the word “Gotcha” resonates from the lips of this fallen angel.

And the terrible thing about being sucked into this type of lifestyle is that one doesn’t see it as any big deal. There are too many “So what if I…” to mention.

So who or what really is our god, anyway?

One senior citizen told me, “If I could have won the lottery, I would have been the happiest man in the world.” Many have thought that only to be disillusioned. Who is the author of love and happiness? Satan? Think again.

Christians, hold tight to your beliefs of the faith. Don’t compromise attitudes. We are so blessed to have a Savior who loved us so much that he died for us, is alive for us and continues to love us.

Reciprocate your love to Him.
